Using referral marketing to get free MLM leads is an effective strategy to grow your customer base. Every network marketer has the same challenge. That is, finding a steady flow of leads to build a profitable business.

According to Wikipedia, โ€œReferral marketing is a process to increase word of mouth marketing by encouraging customers and contacts to talk as much as possible about a brand or product.โ€

That makes sense, right? You want people talking about you and the solutions you offer in the form of products from your MLM business.

Use Referral Marketing to Get Free MLM Leads

The key to referral marketing is building relationships with your existing customers and well as new people that you meet.

In a recent statistic from the New York Time, 65% of all new business comes from referrals. If you are NOT implementing a referral program into your business, you are leaving money on the table.

We all focus so much on content marketing or social media as a way to get free MLM leads. While those methods work great, referral marketing is often ignored yet itโ€™s a powerful marketing strategy.

Referral Marketing Ideas to Implement in Your MLM Business

Implementing a referral marketing strategy is simple and can increase the number of MLM leads you get for your business.

  1. Be Referable. This is the most important part of referral lead generation. People do business with those they like and trust so make sure you are that person! You can ensure that you are referable by always providing value in the marketplace, delivering on your promises and being a person of integrity.
  2. Implement a Referral Marketing Program. Do you already have a few loyal customers or visitors? Create a reward program to encourage people to share your brand with others. Your referral marketing program can be whatever you want. Perhaps you offer a gift certificate for referrals that make a purchase or give a gift that is from your MLM product line. Donโ€™t be afraid to offer your referral program to visitors who have not made a purchase from you. They may not be ready to but may know someone who is! Then you can send them a small sampling of your product to get them hooked!
  3. Just ask for referrals. I talk to lots of people all the time and whether they are a customer or not, I always ask for referrals. Maybe they are not interested in joining your business or using your products, but may know someone who is. Maximize your MLM leads.
  4. Cross-refer with other network marketers. I have lots of friends in a variety of network marketing businesses. If I meet someone that is looking for skincare, I may not be selling it but I have a friend who is! I gladly refer that person to my friend. So be sure to build relationships with other network marketers so you can refer people to each other!

    Absolutely Linda. Wow I really don’t do this enough. This is a bit of a wake up call. I’ve been so focussed on creating content that I haven’t been focussed on referrals. I love the idea of the reward program. Thank you!

      Thanks Tracey! I was! Asking for the referral is so obvious but most people don’t do it! I always think – well, what’s the worst thing that can happen? The person won’t give me any referrals, or may say something crazy. On the other hand, they may have referrals. You never know unless you ask!
