Are you struggling with MLM attrition in your business? Maybe you had a few people join your team but at the same time, others are quitting!
You get this terrible feeling in the pit of your stomach when people leave your downline.
MLM attrition is unavoidable. It’s just the way it is.
If you see people leaving your downline, don’t fret. Stick with your goal of growing a large MLM team no matter and get used to the fact that people quit network marketing all the time. It’s not because of you, it’s because of them.
So many times I’ve had people join my team and they were super excited! They were going to do everything necessary to become the next 6-figure earner. Well guess what, many of those people disappear within a week or month. Why?
What Can You Do about MLM Attrition
There is not much you can do about MLM attrition as it’s just the way people are.
Everyone wants to change their life in some way but not really willing to do what it takes to make it happen. You can’t force people to do things.
So what can you?
- Set expectations. Before a person every joins your team, be sure to set the right expectations for them. Let them know the time and money investment it takes to get to the six figure income they desire.
- Focus on teambuilding. Instead of focusing on money, focus on team building. This may help reduce the MLM attrition in your downline a little. Team building will help your downline see and understand a vision for their future. There is a greater chance they may actually stick with it.
- Develop a good duplicable system. Having a doable system in place will help your downline get to their goals. Get your MLM team members acquainted with a duplicable system right away so they can start participating. Work with them to set goals and plug them into team calls and company events.
MLM attrition rates are typically about 80 to 90 percent. If you know this going in, you’ll be better equipped to handle it when your downline quits.
Most of all, even if your downline quits, you need to stay focused on your goal! Do not be influenced by negativity. Stay positive and keep moving forward no matter what!

Thanks Dustin! It’s a super high rate which is why we have to be so focused on finding new people to talk with every day. If onlhy more people had a strong belief and committment, I believe that rate can decrease. Until then, to the top we go!

Great tips on reducing Attrition. You are correct you can’t eliminate it, that’s just human nature for people to quit, but you can minimize it using those tips you shared today… What is happening is you are creating a community that people will want to be a part of…. When people understand that’s it is just part of human nature, they can be more successful in their business.
The big problem I see is that when people quit, the sponsor gets depressed or unmotivated and eventually ends up doing nothing or quitting themselves.
Staying motivated, even when others quit your downline is key to success and it all starts with understanding this is part of the process.
